Where Does Hospice Take Place?

The vast majority of Americans say they want to spend their last chapter of life at home. You can receive hospice care wherever you call home — a private residence, an assisted living residence, a skilled nursing facility, or a memory care unit. Regardless of the setting, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care provides superior medical attention and compassionate support. An admissions nurse can advise you on what setting is best.

A personal experience with Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care

In-Home

Most hospice patients receive care in their home. The patient, their family, the nurse case manager, social worker, and chaplain determine the number of hospice visits based on each patient’s needs. Your dedicated nurse will assign certified nursing aide services based on your personal care needs.

Skilled Nursing Facility or Assisted Living

Many hospice patients live in skilled nursing facilities or assisted living residences. Visits by the hospice team are the same as they are for patients living in a private residence. The hospice team works with the facility staff to coordinate all care and ensure that proper care is provided.

What is Included with Hospice?

Even when you’re told that nothing more can be done for a life-limiting illness, Pikes Peak Hospice can provide medical treatment to support you in achieving your goals. Hospice care is designed for patients of all ages who are seeking comfort, joy, and compassion during the last chapter of life.

After getting my terminal diagnosis, they really went above and beyond in explaining things. I tried a couple others in town and it was always come back or we can come to you in a week or so. When you have fast moving cancer the last thing you want to hear is we can evaluate your case later. I can't speak for all just myself but they were my shelter in the storm

My Wife was taken care of by Pikes Peak hospice care. The staff that we interfaced with were wonderful, caring, and compassionate people you could ask for. They cared about my wife and my complete family. My wife was there for 4 nights and they kept her pain free and treated her with dignity. I can not say enough good things about them. I want they to know how much I appreciated what they did for her. Thank you very much.

I should have signed up a month sooner. They were ridiculously-responsive and helpful. I would never use an inpatient facility for Dad, so I cannot speak to that piece of their services, but they provided everything Dad wanted and needed, at our house, with patience and care. They started within hours of my initial call, after-hours, evaluating Dad and educating us. And it was fully covered by insurance, which was a big relief. Aaron, Michelle, THANK YOU! Simple: You provide the love and supervision, PPH&PC provides the medical advice, supplies & equipment, know-how, treatments, and comfort-medications to make the end as good as it can be. We didn't have to put Dad through the hospital nightmare to get him the meds he needed for comfort at the end. It was exactly as he wanted it.
