Inpatient Hospice Unit

Rest easy knowing our Hospice Inpatient Unit is available when you need it most

We are the only area hospice with a hospice inpatient unit equipped to manage serious care needs in a comfortable setting.

Located in Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak Hospice Inpatient Unit is a specialized setting that provides short-term care management for patients who need the “general inpatient” level of hospice care. This level of care is appropriate when a patient’s symptoms are unmanageable in other settings and require complex and frequent treatment interventions. Our Inpatient Unit also offers the “respite” level of hospice care that allows patients to be cared for and allows their primary caregiver to rest, recharge, or tend to personal responsibilities.

  • Cable TV – all patient rooms and common areas have cable television
  • WiFi – complimentary service is available throughout the unit
  • Room Service – gives patients autonomy and control of when and what they eat
  • Natural Beauty – common areas and the west facing patient rooms face the Rocky Mountains.
  • Children’s Area – suitable for quiet activities when visiting patients (children must be supervised by parents/guardians)
  • Family Meeting Areas – a family conference with our Interdisciplinary Team is available should you desire to discuss your loved one’s care in greater detail or need to discuss more complex medical or social issues
  • Complementary Therapies – several complementary therapies are offered including aromatherapy, live music, touch therapy, and animal companion visits (View All Therapies)
Those with the most complex symptoms need general inpatient care. Our hospice inpatient unit is the best setting to receive this care.

The inpatient hospice unit is not a residence. Many patients receive inpatient care until they are palliated and then return home. Stays are typically less than one week.

After getting my terminal diagnosis, they really went above and beyond in explaining things. I tried a couple others in town and it was always come back or we can come to you in a week or so. When you have fast moving cancer the last thing you want to hear is we can evaluate your case later. I can't speak for all just myself but they were my shelter in the storm

My Wife was taken care of by Pikes Peak hospice care. The staff that we interfaced with were wonderful, caring, and compassionate people you could ask for. They cared about my wife and my complete family. My wife was there for 4 nights and they kept her pain free and treated her with dignity. I can not say enough good things about them. I want they to know how much I appreciated what they did for her. Thank you very much.

I should have signed up a month sooner. They were ridiculously-responsive and helpful. I would never use an inpatient facility for Dad, so I cannot speak to that piece of their services, but they provided everything Dad wanted and needed, at our house, with patience and care. They started within hours of my initial call, after-hours, evaluating Dad and educating us. And it was fully covered by insurance, which was a big relief. Aaron, Michelle, THANK YOU! Simple: You provide the love and supervision, PPH&PC provides the medical advice, supplies & equipment, know-how, treatments, and comfort-medications to make the end as good as it can be. We didn't have to put Dad through the hospital nightmare to get him the meds he needed for comfort at the end. It was exactly as he wanted it.
