Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care strengthens commitment to veterans through community engagement in Colorado Springs

Organization representatives attend weekly Fortin Veterans Lunch to connect with and support the Southern Colorado military community

Supporting veterans and honoring military service remain central to the mission of Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care. Recently, members of the organization attended the weekly “Fortin Veterans Lunch,” a longstanding gathering in Colorado Springs that brings local veterans together for conversation, camaraderie, and community connection.

Held every Wednesday at a local Colorado Springs restaurant, the Fortin Veterans Lunch offers veterans throughout the Pikes Peak region an opportunity to communicate, build friendships, share experiences, and learn about valuable community resources and upcoming events.

The lunches were founded by Ronald Fortin, who helped create a welcoming and supportive environment for members of the military community across Southern Colorado.

For Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, participating in events like the Fortin Veterans Lunch reflects the organization’s broader commitment to serving veterans with dignity, compassion, and respect. Colorado Springs is home to a large and vibrant military population, including active-duty service members, retirees, veterans, and military families connected to nearby installations such as Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and the United States Air Force Academy.

As a hospice and palliative care provider serving Colorado Springs and surrounding communities, Pikes Peak Hospice understands the unique experiences and needs many veterans carry throughout their lives. Building relationships within the veteran community helps ensure veterans and their families receive compassionate support, meaningful recognition, and quality end-of-life care tailored to their experiences and values.

The organization proudly participates in veteran recognition ceremonies, community partnerships, and outreach efforts designed to honor those who served our country. Opportunities like the Fortin Veterans Lunch allow team members to listen to veterans’ stories, strengthen community connections, and continue learning how to best support military families throughout Southern Colorado.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is grateful to the many veterans who continue to make these weekly gatherings an important source of connection and support within the Colorado Springs community.

Through compassionate care and ongoing community engagement, Pikes Peak Hospice remains dedicated to honoring veterans and supporting the military community throughout every stage of life.
