At the start of her care, Darlene was featured in video news segment on Fox 21. In the video, she and her family express their appreciation for the palliative care program at PPHPC and the team members who helped them navigate a difficult time.

Darlene Walker, a patient of Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care (PPHPC), was recently honored at the organization’s latest Tribute ceremony and reception. The Tribute Program of the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation was created as a way to honor those we love, while also raising funds to help provide care for others in our community needing hospice and palliative care services.

The Tribute Program honors and recognizes loved ones when donations received in their name total $1,000 or more as a one-time gift or, given cumulatively over a period of time. Many families designate Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation as a beneficiary of memorial contributions in newspaper obituaries or through publications at funeral homes. Others simply want to remember their loved ones in a way that can be readily shared with others.

Tribute Receptions are held throughout the year. Those who have made a memorial contribution, as well as family and friends of the individual being memorialized, are invited to attend a brief but meaningful reception. Each family is encouraged to submit a story about their loved one along with a photograph to be displayed during the reception, and afterward on our virtual Tribute Wall.
