Peter and Louise King

Louise was a light in her own right. She was a gentle lady, who was outgoing, witty, and generous. We shared fifty-nine priceless years together, bonding with each other in good times and bad. Hospice was an important interest in her life from its early days – from its early days in a few rooms at Penrose Hospital, to the annual Trees of Life event which she played an instrumental part in establishing. It was with loving care from Pikes Peak Hospice which helped usher Louise into eternity. She touched so many lives for the better, and her influence lives on. In the words of my night-time farewell of many years to her, “Sweet dreams, honey. I love you.”

Peter and Louise were two of the most generous people I have ever known. Mom (Louise) has been so giving in every way, and she was always there for us. She was a devoted wife and mother. She gave so much time to numerous organizations. One of her favorites was Pikes Peak Hospice, and she was proud to say she was a part of this organization. She was also the founder of the Trees of Life annual event. She taught us so much about giving and helping, and all we had to do was watch her to know what we had to do. And then there is Dad (Peter) who was the rock of our family. He was always on the ball. He did everything to provide for the family so mother never had to work. He taught us kids so much about respecting other, and to appreciate what we had. He, too, was involved in numerous organizations. Pikes Peak Hospice was one of his favorites as well.
We want to thank PPHPC for the great care they gave Mom in her final days and to Joan Selman for keeping tabs on Dad up until he died. They may be gone but they will never be forgotten.
