Hodson III, William T.

William T. Hodson III

Date Honored: March 2019

William Hodson, better known as “Bill,” was a man who defined the term “humble.”  Even though he had a lot of bragging rights, he did not boast. He always took the time to listen to others but when it was time to speak, he would speak—humbly and without pride.

Bill was a true leader.  He did everything with those who followed him, never asking them to do something he would not. Doing the hard things with those who do hard things was Bill’s hallmark.

He also gave of himself, serving willingly. He understood that he was put on this earth to serve, and he did so willingly.  He was small before his God, walking with Him and allowing his Creator to define him.

Most of all, Bill was gentle.  Although he had great strength, he did not showcase it. When he was with the weak, he acted with gentleness to reassure their safety. When he was with the young, he did not make them fear his strength. Rather, he showed them a strength worth admiring.  He displayed his strength in silence.

Bill’s humbleness, leadership, servanthood and gentleness are greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him.
