Carole Malkin

Date Honored: February 2015

Carole was my wife for over 50 years, and we shared many special moments over this time.  She was a wonderful mother to our three children and a special grandmother to our seven grandchildren. She had many dear friends, both in this country and abroad, and was a loyal and caring friend to them, several becoming as close as family members.  She was a dedicated and accomplished writer of fiction and memoir and also dabbled with poetry and literary criticism.  Carole was loved because of her intelligence, her sense of humor, her kindness and her warmth. She would do anything she could to help her family and her friends.

We spent over 50 years together, from our years in college, to many more years in California and more recently a few years in Colorado Springs. Our time was filled with fun, laughter and much silliness but we also learned to overcome hardships and sadness. We were fortunate to have each other during these difficult times.  Above all, Carole was strong, courageous and brave as she dealt with two cancers during her life and the loss of her oldest son. She passed away too early for there was much she wanted to do and see.

She was the love of my life, and the brightness in my life, and I, along with so many, miss her very much.
